The Kids’ Lit Quiz is a literature competition for children aged 10-13. Teams of four work collaboratively to answer a wide range of questions pertaining to literature. Teams compete in the regional and national competitions until one team is crowned victorious. They will then advance to the World Final, where they will compete against teams from all over the world, from Canada to Thailand to South Africa.
The quiz was created in 1991 by Wayne Mills of the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He created it to help foster a life-long love of reading within children and to recognize children who not only can read but choose to read. Since its humble origins in New Zealand, the Kids’ Lit Quiz has grown, and now features thousands of kids from all over the world.
